Credits and billing
- What is a credit?
- A credit is one step the assistant takes toward your request. A short question takes one. A request that needs several steps, like writing a drum pattern and then adjusting its groove, spends a credit per step, so a single message can cost more than one.
- Why did one message cost several credits?
- Because the assistant worked through it in several steps, and every step costs a credit. Reading your session, writing the clip, then checking the result is three pieces of work, and each one is its own round trip to the model. You can see the steps for any message by expanding it in the chat.
- What happens when I run out?
- On the free plan you get a warning as you approach your allowance and a hard stop when you reach it. On a paid plan there is no hard stop. You keep working, and credits beyond your monthly allowance are billed at $0.15 each on your next invoice.
- Do the free credits expire?
- The monthly 20 reset on the first of each month and do not roll over. The 130 you start with have no clock on them at all: they sit there until you spend them, however many months that takes. Your monthly allowance is always spent first, so the starting credits are the last thing to go.
- When am I charged?
- At the end of each billing period, not at checkout. The order total shows $0.00 today because the monthly fee and any extra credits are billed together on one invoice when the period ends. The free plan needs no card at all.
- Can I cancel anytime?
- Yes. Paid subscriptions cancel at the end of the current billing period. See our refund policy for the full terms.
Product
- Which DAWs are supported?
- Ableton Live 12 on macOS and Windows, Intro, Standard, and Suite. Cross-DAW support (Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase) is planned but not live yet.
- Is there an AI subscription on top of this?
- No. Inference is included in every tier, so there is no API key to paste and no separate AI plan to hold on the side. What you pay Dawbrain is the whole cost.
Privacy
- Is my session data private?
- Session context is sent to Anthropic for each request to generate the response. It isn't used to train AI models; Anthropic's API terms forbid that by default. See our privacy policy for full details.
- Do you train on my conversations?
- No. Not us, and not Anthropic under our API plan.
